PACKED FULL OF SHEA
When we say “packed full of Shea”, we really do mean “packed full of Shea”. Our collection contains more Shea than most products.
Pure (unrefined) Shea butter is naturally rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A, D, E, F, and K, and has many wonderful benefits.
Shea oil is a by-product of the Shea butter making process – it is harder to come by than Shea butter and is more labour intensive. It is also much thinner in consistency than the butter, although both the oil and the butter offer similar benefits to the skin. Like the butter, the oil moisturises, heals and softens the skin.
Alila Villas, Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia
Alila Villas, Uluwatu is a luxury hotel and villa development showcasing ecological sustainability with an appreciation of the existing contextual identity of the local environment.
The severe drought weather conditions experienced in this area combined with the porous limestone bedrock were identified as critical constraints associated with the landscape design.
In order to embrace these natural constraints and transform them into design opportunities, a holistic approach was taken in order to capture existing traditions and ecology. Local farming construction techniques including loosely piled limestone boulders influenced the design concepts of the buildings. Local volcanic pumice rock was used as natural insulation material and supports local ferns and succulents to roof gardens.
Polo - The Game of Kings
“Let other people play at other things. The King of Games is still the Game of Kings.”
– A famous verse inscribed on a stone tablet next to a polo ground in Gilgit, Pakistan.
Polo is arguably one of the oldest team sports still in existence, with the first documented matches being played in Persia over 2,500 years ago. It is thought to have been created by competing tribes of Central Asia, and was quickly taken up as a training method for the King’s elite cavalry.
